Your Trusted Advisory Team or Your Financial Quarterback
In most team sports, there is usually one person (a position player) who calls the plays. In football, this person is usually the quarterback. The quarterback, of course, is taking direction from the team coach. However, even though the quarterback is involved in every play, he doesn’t actually run the ball every play himself. Instead, the quarterback takes direction from the team coach; he then brings the team together in a huddle in order to let everyone on the team know what play is being called, who is going to get the ball and when. The quarterback then executes the play along with the rest of the team, thus allowing the team to effectively move the ball up the field in a coordinated effort.
Your financial planner acts as the quarterback of your advisory team. You provide direction to the financial planner—your values, your goals, and your dreams. The financial planner executes your financial game plan in a coordinated effort with the rest of the advisory team, with the objective of moving you over your goal line. This makes sense, doesn’t it?
